Happy New Year from the Utah Dressage Society! We are in the final stages of pulling together the content for our 2016 Omnibus.  If you would like to have your show included or would like to place an ad in the 2016 Omnibus, please submit any content to Stacey Hornsby no later than January 10, 2016.

Back by popular demand, the Utah Dressage Society will be hosting a Winter Education Symposium on February 27, 2016.   This event is a fun and educational event including keynote speakers, a panel discussion, and breakout sessions. Price includes 2 meals, the featured general session topic "Handling Equine Emergencies" by keynote speaker Dr. Kate Schoenhals, breakout sessions on yoga for the horse rider, the zen of showing, working equitation and a panel of trainers answering your training and riding questions...plus more! Registration is OPEN! Please register by February 15, 2016. First 50 to register will receive a leather bound notebook with UDS logo.

****NOTE:  There has been a date change of the first clinic to April 8-10**** Pegasus Event Center will be hosting two Wayne Quarles clinics at their barn in 2016. The first clinic is April 8-10 and the second clinic is October 28-30. Format:  The first day is flat work, second day is grids, and the third day is either courses or out on the cross country course. We group the riders on their ability levels and each group rides for about 1.5-2 hours (depending on the size of the group) We have groups for those who have horses/riders that are barely broke all the way through 4ft. The individual dressage sessions are available all three days, and are available for horses that are barely broke all the way to Grand Prix. Riding &Teaching Workshops for the USDF Instructor Certification Program were a great success! Sarah Martin was impressed with the quality of horses and demo riders in Utah and was happy the 4 day event ran smoothly. The 5 participating instructors (one was from Minnesota) learned a lot and we admire them stepping out of their comfort zone to be observed by Sarah and all the auditors! Utah will be very lucky to have several more certified instructors to join Stacy Williams and this will only improve the quality of instruction and training in Utah! The final workshop will be held on November 21st and 22nd at Zephyr ranch and we'll go over lunging the horse and lunging the rider on the horse to improve the seat. Director of Membership:Sydni (Peterson) Nusink - I am making my intent known for running for director of membership. I have been riding dressage in the state since I was 6 years old, I am a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and and train out of VIP Equine in Spanish Fork and Keystone Equestrian in Bluffdale. I have such a passion for this sport and want to see it expand in our state! I believe I would be great for this position because I love people. I am outgoing and have an excitement about dressage that is endless. I would love to help our new members become a part of the community and help them become involved! Secretary: Caryn Bloom - I've spent the past year getting myself acclimated to Utah and understanding the dressage horse world here. Coming from a large GMO and a very active and competitive dressage community in Texas, I think that there is a lot of help I can provide by becoming a member of the Board. Having been a past GMO President, I thought about running for UDS President but realized that my work commitments wouldn't allow me the amount of dedication I would like to give to UDS as President. In light of that, I still wanted to help out in some capacity so I am interested in running for the position of Secretary for the UDS. President: Stacey Hornsby - After I recently stepped into the Interim President position, I would like to run for the position in the upcoming elections. I have gained some insights from the last time I held this position 2008-2010 and I feel I can be an effective leader for our growing GMO! I will work to add more education events like our new Winter Educational Symposium and in 2016 which we plan to make bigger and better as we network with other rising clubs. I would like to help join all our Utah riders together and add events and improve our services as well as grow our Jr program.
